Getting Started With AdWords

A Collection Of Useful Information On Internet Marketing

The first thing you need to do to get started with Google Adwords is to find out what your advertising goals are. To do this, you must ask yourself a number of questions such as: What does your company do? What products or services do you sell? Who is your primary target market? What do you want people to do: Buy, visit, download, fill out a form, read an article, etc? Do you need separate ads for separate products or services? What is the result you would like to see? What kind of return on investment are you looking for?

After you have figured out the answers to those key questions, you may proceed to create your Adwords account. To do this, go to the Google Adwords homepage at https://adwords.google.com. Once there, click on "Start now to begin". Follow the steps that are given afterwards. It is important to note that during this process, you will be asked to choose your permanent currency and time zone settings. Once these have been chosen, they cannot be changed, so it is very important that you choose carefully.

If you already have an existing Google Account, you can use that same account for Google Adwords. However, your existing Google Account cannot have already been linked with Adwords.

Next, after you have created your account, it is time to sign in and access it. You would again go to the Google Adwords homepage https://adwords.google.com. Here you will be asked to enter your email and password into the blank fields. Fill these in and hit "Sign in". However, if you are already signed into Google or Adwords, Google will skip this step and take you directly to your account. If your account cannot be accessed for whatever reason, try clicking on "I cannot access my account" below the sign in form. Also, if you have forgotten your password, it is possible to request a new one. However, changing your password for Adwords will also change the password for other Google products such as Adsense or Checkout, so please make sure this is really what you want to do.

You will note after you have signed in that there are several levels of Adwords account access. These are Administrative, Standard, Read-Only, and Email-Only. If you want to view these different levels or change what you have, go to the My Account tab and hit Account Access.

Keep in mind, only the original account creator can edit the sign-in information as well as language preferences within the My Account tab-no one else can do this, regardless of their access level.

For those of you managing more than one client's account, you can manage multiple accounts using My Client Center (MCC), or Adwords Editor.
